Roome Bay, Crail. Feedback on Designs.

In March 2022 the Crail Community Partnership (CCP) carried out a community survey asking for the views of the Crail community on the potential acquisition by Community Asset Transfer (CAT) and redevelopment of the Roome Bay public toilet site.

This project is a direct result of the community consultation (The Crail Charrette) carried out in 2019, which identified the Roome Bay toilets as a priority area for development to create better local and visitor facilities.

We asked what you would like to see on the site and how you would use any new facilities. The results of the survey have been gathered in a summary can be seen here [link to survey summary].

  • 72% of respondents support CCP purchasing the toilets via a CAT

  • 72% thought there should be no charge or donations for the toilets

  • 88% thought the toilets should be open year round

  • 60% would buy coffee/tea/drink at least once a month from a catering facility on site

  • 53% felt an interpretation centre was important or very important.

The initial building designs have been based on these findings as well as considering the location, the need to be easy to manage and as sustainable as possible. We aim to keep running and maintenance costs to a minimum.

  • New toilets

  • Kiosk for takeaway drinks & snacks

  • Covered space and seating

  • Information on the local area

We now ask for your feedback on the initial findings and design.
